摘要
电影几乎在全世界所有国家都很受欢迎。它是一门艺术,是最具影响力的大众媒体之一。电影不仅是一项重要的娱乐形式,而且还会反应电影所植根的文化,电影的确是我们各种社会的反映。
电影标题作为电影语言的一部分,是电影第一面对受众的部分,其翻译自然是电影推广宣传的关键一环。众所周知,电影标题也是社会语言的一部分,当然会涉及到社会文化形式的各个方面,包括政治,经济,历史,宗教等。如何逾越不同社会文化背景所造成的理解鸿沟,是电影片名翻译首先要解决的问题。
这篇论文描述了俩种不同的翻译方法:直译翻译和意译翻译,并且介绍了如何灵活运用这俩种翻译方法。作者分析了直译和意译的不同,这主要是由于文化的不同,最后得出结论:不能片面地说直译好还是意译好,这两者是相辅相承的。一个好的翻译者应该依据作品的剧情来翻译,能够反映观众的文化环境,例如社会现状,宗教和历史等。这些客观的方面能直接与观众的接受和领悟能力相联系。英语电影片名还应该有章可循,翻译的标准应力求达到“信”、“达”、“雅”的统一,而不应该为了追求单纯的经济利益而放弃一切原则去迎合观众

Abstract
Movie is very popular in almost every country in the world. It is a kind of art and also one of the most influential mass media. It is not only an important form of entertainment, but also a true reflection of the culture of a society.
The film title is the first part to be directly confronted with the audience, so it is considered as an important part of the film, the translation of a film title plays a critical role in the promotion of the film production in the international film market. As we all know, the film title is also a portion of the social language, so it surely relates to aspects of the social culture, such as politics, economics, history, religion, etc... Therefore, how to bridge prehension gap of the audience from different cultural background is crucial to the film title translation.
This paper investigates two different ways of translation of film titles: literal translation and free translation and discusses how to use them properly. In the
