“ECOLOGICAL MARXISM” AND ITS PRESENT
INSPIRATION
ABSTRACT
"Ecological Marxism", considered as an important branch of western
Marxism philosophy, was first introduced from the far-reaching "Green
Revolution" in the 1960s and 1970s. By exploring a new trace to the
development of western Marxism, it has made fundamental contribution to the
harmonious development between men and nature. With the increasing
deterioration of the global ecological environment, people e more
interested in the Ecological Marxism and more attention has been paid to it.
With the carrying out of reform and opening policy, our country, on one hand,
has made remarkable achievements, but on the other hand faces a serious
ecological problem. President Hu Jintao points out at the Seventeenth National
Congress of munist Party of China that we must adhere to the
people-oriented, comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development view
and facilitate the overall progress of human-beings as well as our society.
Studying ecological Marxism will be practically and theoretically meaningful
for us to uphold and develop Marxism, strengthen the construction of ecological
civilization and the construction of socialist harmonious society. The thesis is
generally involved in its appearance, development, theoretical basis, core theory,
significance, as well as the enlightenment on current China.
To begin with, the author aims at exploring the social and historical
background, evolution process as well as the theoretical basis of "Ecological
Marxism". According to the survey, the global ecology crisis caused by the
current western capitalism and the rising of the Green Revolution play a role as
its social background. The "Ecological Marxism" came into being in the 1960s
to 1970s and gradually developed in the 1980s and at last became mature in the
1990s. The ecological value proposed by Marx and Engels is considered as its
