Unit 2 Lesson 13 Black, white, brown
Class Opening and Review
GREETING
SING “THIS IS THE WAY WE WALK TO SCHOOL”
Play the audiotape if you wish to play it. Quickly review the actions for the song before the class sings it.
DRILL
Review colors the class knows with questions such as:
Teacher: What colour is this/are they? (Point to or hold up objects.)
Class: It's. /They are.
Teacher: Is this or ?
Class: (Name a colour.)
Teacher: Point to/Show me something .
Class: (Point to the correct colour.)
PLAY “I SEE SOMETHING,,
See the directions for this game in “Games” at the back of this guide. Use it to review the names of the colours the students have learned.
To teach the chant, translate the phrase and demonstrate the rhythm:
XXX X X I
I see some - thing.
The audiotape has the chant at this point in the lesson, if you choose to use it.
New Concepts
Black, white, brown.
DEMONSTRATE
Say the words for the colours as you hold up or point to things that are brown, black and white. You can also point to your colour poster.
Use different phrases as you work. For example:
This is (name of colour).
This colour is.
Ifs yellow.
What colour is it? (Encourage the class to answer.)
Teaching Tip Some student may have difficulty saying brown correctly. Show them that the /©©/ sound in brown is the same as the sound for dumplings: jiaozi.
