三、词汇教学的特点
重视词汇的教学，首先应明确词汇教学有哪些特点，才能更好的采取科学合理的方法，从而达到有效的目标。小学英语的词汇教学应有以下六个特点：

词汇是语言的基本单位和建筑材料。人们的思维活动首先是在词汇的基础上进行的。人与人之间的交流主要是在句子和言语这两方面实现的。没有词汇，就没有语言，就不能言语。
词汇有特定的声音，人们发出不同的声音代表不同的词汇；人们在进行书面表达时，词汇以其特定的形式出现；每一个词汇都有固定的一个或多个含义；根据一定语言规则和约定俗成的语法限定，这些词排列成一句话语，供人们进行交流。音、形、义，用法缺一不可，哪一部分不完整就会对交流造成障碍。因此，在词汇教学中，教师要考虑和认识到语言交流对词汇要求的这一特点，既教词汇发音，也教拼、读写，还要向学生详解词汇的含义，传授运用这些词汇的方法，使学生得以全面掌握。

词汇教学不只是单词教学，因为单词只有组成句子和话语之后，才能实现它的交际功能。单词脱离开句子，无法确定其含义。离开了具体的情景，我们很难说出一个词的意思。当然，小学所学词汇的词义，一般用其本义，而引申义等用得较少。但是，即使是本义，很多词也有好几个。因此，确定词义和用法，必须有具体的情景和语境。
要教好学生记词汇，一方面要读 、背 、拼写 、听写，利用机械理解和记忆；另一方面要想记得牢，用得准，还必须理解意义和识记意义，这样才能收到很好的效果。
