INTRODUCTION
Professor Jay Barney who was called “the father of modern resource based view (RBV)”. He is devoted to the study about the relationship between firm resources and petitive advantages (SCA). This is an essay published by Barney in 1991. Barney did a deep research about strategic resources of firms during petition and how to build petitive advantages for the firms. The methodologies were based on the RBV and made a big contribution after traditional study of strategic management field. As Porter suggested that understanding sources of petitive advantage for firm has e a major area of research in strategic management. We also facing an issue: is it really necessary to build SCA for firms? In this essay, I will talk about Barney’s findings and contributions first. And I will discuss about the issue at last.
