As we all know, Scotland is a part of the UK, why does it want to be independent? Relationship between England and Scotland. Scottish are believed the original inhabitant of the modern British. Their ancestors arrived in Scotland around 12800 years ago when the Ice Age was about to end. (Moffat, 2005) In the 5th century, a group of Germanic people, known as the "Anglo-Saxons", arrived in Britannia and built several small kingdoms. In the following 5 centuries, these small kingdoms had been fighting with each other and founded a unified Kingdom of England. After that, Englander began attempting to subjugate the Scotland and expelled them from the whole Britannia to the northwestward, a part of modern Scotland which is filled with mountains and hills. (History of England, 2014) The struggle between England and Scotland lasted for hundreds of years, England had occupied Scotland several times and for each time Scottish recaptured their Kingdom afterwards. During that period of time, the Scottish began to admire the spirits of independence and freedom, meanwhile, plex relationship between England and Scotland formed.
