Abstract
In the past 100 years, from birth to the continuous development of automobile, the
development of human civilization was driven in an accelerated progress. However, a series
of environmental problems triggered by automobile can not be ignored. The most serious
impact on the environment is automobile exhaust emissions. The major sources of CO, HC,
NOX and other air pollutants in city is emissions from vehicles. Fine particles emitted by
diesel vehicles in urban areas often account for a large proportion. At the same time, pollutant
emissions from vehicles on the road near the city suburbs and rural areas also cause
significant air pollution. These pollutants cause great harm on human health and a serious
impact on the environment.
Life cycle assessment (LCA) is the most potential support tools to achieve global
sustainable development in the 21st century. LCA can help countries to develop car-related
environmental policies and strategies for sustainable development of the automotive industry.
This paper not only specifies the harm and the status of environmental pollution caused
by automobile exhaust, but also analyses the methods, technology and development to reduce
automobile exhaust. This paper focuses on the framework, implementation methods and
development process of LCA, the LCA domestic and international development status.
Collect characteristics of four engines produced by different manufacturers and establish life
cycle assessment model based on the theories and methods of LCA. Do life cycle assessment
of the using stages of four light truck diesel engines. Based on the evaluation results, analyse
the most damaging to the environment of diesel engine and identify the most damaging
emissions. Finally, according to configuration of the four engines and the size of the impact
on the environment, identify which configuration can reduce emissions, and put forward
feasible suggestions for i
