What is Air Waybill?
Filled in by the shipper or the person in the name of the shipper, the air waybill (AWB) evidences the cargo transported on the carrier’s scheduled airlines.
It is an evidence of the contract of carriage, but it is not a document of title to the goods. Hence, the AWB is non-negotiable.
什么是航空货运单?
由托运人或以托运人的名义填写航空货运单(航空运单)证明货物已经运送至承运的航空公司。
航空货运单也是一份运输合同凭证。但它不是对货物的所有权凭证。因此, 航空运单是不可转让的。
The AWB in China consists of 12 pages, including 3 originals, 6 copies, and 3 additional copies.
Different pages are in different colors.
The three original pages are conserved by the shipper, carrier, and consignee.

The functions of AWB
The air waybill is the most important document for a batch of air freight goods.
1. A contract for transportation between a carrier and a shipper (or an agent for a shipper);
2. A receipt evidencing the carrier’s receipt of cargo;

Usually, an air waybill is non-negotiable, that is, the goods must be sent to the consignee titled in the air waybill.
Each shipment has an air waybill. For consolidated shipments, individual air waybills, called the house air waybills, issued by consolidators, are bined into a master air waybill for the consolidated shipment.
