Google究竟是什么?
一个公司名称,又是一种无所不在的文化;
一个搜索引擎,又像一个无穷的宇宙;
一个名词,又是贯穿每一个网民曰常生活的基本动词;
是庶民忠实的工具,又把据互联网的上帝;
是微软的敌人,是硅谷复苏的先锋;
是一个巨型的图书馆,一个购物天堂,一次约会服务,一场室内游戏......
Google有着无数的可能,有着无穷的想象
1998年
Google正式诞生于加州Menlo Park ,办公室是一个转租的车库,里面还有洗衣机、干衣机和热水大浴盆。还提供了一个停车空间, 刚好可以为公司雇佣的第一位员工克雷格·希尔维斯通(Craig Silverstein,现在是Google的技术主管)停车。
那时候,每天已经有10,000次搜索,媒体也开始关注这颗迅速耀眼的新星。
Google就这样势不可挡地走向了世界
1999年
Google搬到了Palo Alto大学街(University Avenue)的新办公室。员工人数也翻了一番,达到8个人。每天处理的搜索已经达到50万次,Google成为最著名的Linux软件公司红帽子(Red Hat)的第一个商业客户,从此Google成为开放源代码软件的忠实用户和鼓吹者。
1999年6月7曰,硅谷最有名的两家风险投资公司克莱那·巴金斯(Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Buyers)和美洲杉(Sequoia Capital)都同意向Google一共投资2500万美元。这两个人物可是亲手缔造了Sun、Intuit、Amazon和Yahoo等公司的成功故事。
Google不再是一家车库公司,
而成为互联网大潮中正式的玩家之一
