Because of high precision,fast response and open resource,Global Positioning System(GPS)attracts great is developing quickly in recent to miniature low—cost civil GPS receivers produced by many panies,applications of GPS had expended from military fields
to civil fields mostly of geodesic surveying,precise timing and vehicle tracking. Vehicle navigation system mainly consisting of GPS,electronic map and
puter have many powerful functions,such as destination self-guided,geography information query Oll the way,guard against theft, monitor and playing to vehicle manager,monitor,avoiding heavy traffic,reducing air pollution,saving energy sources,saving time, providing information services and amusement,Vehicle navigation system is a
high—teeh product with wider market.
According to the research of GPS work theory and geography information system,A technology project of GPS—based Vehicle navigation system is introduced,and the content consist of system framework,software framework and design of function modules,
Precise GPS-based positioning is realized by map matching arithmetic based
on cost function in this paper,and destination self-guided is implemented by the shortcut arithmetic restricting searching on eSupermap embedded geography information system GPS·based Vehicle navigation system is realized.

全球定位系统的全称为授时与测距导航系统,全球定位系统(Navigation Satellite Timing and Ranging/Global Positioning System,简称GPS),是由美国政府历经20年耗资数百亿美元,在“子午仪卫星导航定位”技术上发展而起的具有全球性、全能性、全天候优势的导航定位、定时、测速系统Ⅲ。用于对移动目标和固定目标的导航与定位,可满足包括军方和民间等各种不同用户在定位导航等方面的需求,其应用价值之高、应用范围之广,而被人们称为是继阿波罗登月计划和航天飞机计划之后的第三项庞大空间计划。
GPS因其定位精度高、定位响应快以及资源的开放性等特点面倍受世人关注。近几年来,GPS发展迅猛,世界各大公司相继推出体积小、价格便宜的民用GPS接收机,使基于GPS的应用由军用迅速扩展到民用,被广泛应用于公安、银行、交通等领域的车辆、船舶、飞机等移动目标的定位和导航上[21。
当前GPS应用市场最红火的是车辆导航、消费产品和跟踪监控,尤其以车辆导航所占的份额为最多。根据国家统计局的报告,2000年我国国民生产
