Abstract English is playing an increasingly important role in people’s lives, at a time of rapid economic and social development, speedy scientific and technological progress and faster and easier information transmission and access. Learning English is the fundamental requirement for students who receive secondary vocational education in the twenty-first century. A new round of education reform has attached great importance to a studying method which advocates experiencing, practicing, participating, cooperating municating. In this context, the ideas of cultivating students’ social interaction skills through cooperative learning are still of great theoretical value and practical significance, playing a role of guidance and enlightenment in modern vocational education. Based on the fact that the English petence of students in secondary vocational schools has remained at a low level, the application of cooperative learning in secondary vocational school oral English teaching would promote the enthusiasm and initiative of students’ learning, consequently, improve the teaching efficacy.
