奈达翻译理论综述
尤金·A·奈达(Eugene ),语言学家,翻译家,翻译理论家。
奈达较之其他语言学家和翻译理论家在全世界更有影响原因之一是,在自1946年起的近60年里,他周游了世界,帮助译者解决了《圣经》翻译中的实际问题,而其他语言学家和翻译理论家缺乏这种机会。
Translating consists in reproducing in the receptor language the closest natural equivalent of the source language message, first in terms of meaning and secondly in terms of style.

奈达定义的三个优点
1. 明确地说明了要译的是什么(信息message)
2. 暗示了由于语言文化上的差异,原文和译文只能做到相对的对等(closest)
3. 考虑了译文的可接受性(natural)
翻译就是用译入语(target language)中最自然的表达方式重现原文(source language)中的信息,首先重视的是意义(meaning),其次才是风格(style)。最好的译文读起来应不像翻译。要让原文和译文对等,就必须令译文的表达自然,为达到这个目的,译者必须摆脱原文语言结构的束缚。在大多数情况下,原文和译文的结构是不同的,在翻译中必须有所改变。翻译一方面要保证原文信息传达的准确无误,另一方面又要尽力避免原社会文化因素对译文读者造成的陌生感和翻译腔(translationese)
大胆提出了翻译的目标是达到语言功能的对等,读者心理反应的对等,而不是语言的对等,这样一来,文化、社会、心理等因素都必须在翻译的过程中给予考虑。
Dynamic equivalence/functional equivalence功能对等理论
formal equivalence(形式对等)
By formal equivalence, he “focuses attention on the message itself, in both form and content” with aims to allow readers to understand as much SL context (原文) as possible.
Dynamic equivalence(动态对等)
emphasizes more on the effect the readers receive the message with the aim to “relate the reader to modes of behavior relevant within the context of reader’s own culture”.
Reader’s response (读者反应)
Later, realizing that there is no absolute symmetry between languages, he prefers the term “functional equivalence”(功能对等) in the sense that “equivalence can be understood in terms of proximity, . on the basis of degrees of closeness to functional identity.
主要理论
1. 采用词类(word classes)代替传统的词性(parts of speech)来分析词与词间的语义关系;
2. 提出核心句(kernel sentence)和句子转换的概念,作为翻译中实现句法转换的工具和途径;
