With the development of Modern Industry, Motors, as the most general power drive devices has got more and more rapid progress, especially the unit capacity of large motors is increasing gradually. To catch up with the progress, most large motor manufacture in the world has carried out a lot of researches into every kind of structure on large motors, including the hollow-shaft construction.
Shanghai Electrical Machinery Manufacture Works (SEMMW.) is the leader on the industry of motor manufacture in China. It has possessed the capability to produce most advanced large DC motors in the world after 50 years’ development and with its continuous long time studies on the application of the Hollow-Shaft construction. The Hollow-Shaft construction for ZD315/134, 4100KW DC motors has been selected as one of the trial run projects in Year 2000 by Shanghai Government.
Base on the experience on the Hollow-Shaft construction manufacture for large DC motors at SEMMW., the thesis has made some general contrast among the analysis of connection construction, mechanical strength as well as calculation of shaft deflection and further expatiated the features and advantages of the Hollow-Shaft construction application to large DC motors, this thesis also pointed out that the Hollow-Shaft construction will be the way for large DC motors development in the future.
