What is lexicology?
The study of words/ponents of a language.
it is a derivative of the word lexis, which originated in Greek, meaning words. Such derivatives also include: lexical, lexicon, lexicologist, lexicography and lexicographer.

Lexicology is study of meanings and origins of words (WNWD).
Lexicology is a branch of linguistics concerned with the study of the vocabulary of a given language. It deals with words, their origin, development, structure, formation, meaning and usage.
