Inthis essay Iwill attempt todistinguish two among the many versions ofthe closure ofmodernity ?postmodernity asthe end of?metanarratives? and postmodernity asthe end of?suspicion? ?and sketch atheological version ofthe latter asagenuine path forward. Postmodernity istoo easily identified with nihilistic accounts oftruth, for such anassociation presumes anidentification ofmodernity with truth and reason. Inthis essay Iwill gesture toward atheological account oftruth, ount that belongs neither tomodernity, nor premodernity, nor postmodernity, but which can begin toaquire new force asthe end ofthe reign ofmodern ?clear and distinct ideas? comes into view.
