Abstract
OFDM is regarded as the key technology of physical layer in next generation mobile
communications. One of the main drawbacks of OFDM technology is that the PAPR of transmitted
signal is too high. So OFDM transmitters require the amplifiers with wider linear range in order to
avoid non- linear distortion which made amplifiers expensive and difficult to make. According to this
drawback of OFDM technology, methods that can effectively reduce PAPR in OFDM system were
researched. The main researching work in this paper was as follows:
Firstly, current researching situation and three popular methods about PAPR reduction in OFDM
system at home and aboard were analyzed. Then, SLM and PTS which belonged to probability
methods were researched. Theories, advantages and disadvantages of these two methods were
analysised . According to the disadvantages, some improved works were done respectively.
