Unit 14 I remember meeting all of you in Grade 7
Teaching aims:
1 Learn to master the text type and purpose
2 Learn the new phrases:
be thirsty for, be thankful to , be responsible for.
3 Learn the reading steps
4 Learn to be thankful to the people around us and learn to be responsible for our actions.
Teaching steps:
Step 1 Warming up
Ask the ss to share the special memory about junior school with the class, which aims to prepare for the following passage.
Step 2 First reading
Ask the ss to read the passage quickly to answer the questions of 2b part, which can help the ss to master the text type and text purpose, that’s also the reading skill of this unit.
Step 3 The explanation for the new phrases.
Through showing the activity pictures of the ss in the past 3 years, to introduce these key phrases: be thirsty for, be thankful to , be responsible for.
Step 4 Second reading.
About each paragraph, the ss are given 2 or 3 minutes to find the key sentence and key words or phrases to express the main idea, after their reading, they are asked to answer some questions about each paragraph, for example, Could you tell me whether the teacher likes the ss? How do you know it ? Why should we be thankful to the people around us ? we should tell the ss that there is no standard answer, if they think it’s the key, that’s the key. When the ss give their answer
