The technical advantages were pointed out that drug metabolism research was performed by using the microbial models which provide a novel ways for Chinese herbs drug metabolism. Based on the analysis of practical meaning and prospect of the special 'bi-directional fermentation' technology,the assumption of establishing the microbial models of drug metabolism of Chinese herbs was suggested by applying this technology.
