第一章 动名词
动名词是由动词转化而成的名词，其功能介乎动词和名词之间，在句中用作名词使用，但又具有动词的一些特征，如可以有宾语和状语，可以有完成式和被动式。动名词的形式，即一般情况下在动词末尾家-ing。
动名词的语法功能
动名词在句中可担任主语、宾语、表语和定语。
动名词做主语
Learning English for me is very important. 对于我来说学英语很重要。
Fighting broke out between the South and the North. 南方与北方开战了。
Getting enough vitamins is essencial to life. 获得足够的维生素对生命而言是至关重要的。
Having a successful marriage takes effort and patience, and communication is the key.
要获得成功的婚姻需要努力和耐心，而交流就是关键。
【注意】名词做主语，谓语动词用单数。

有些情况下，将作主语的动名词置于句尾，用代词it作形式主语。多用于下面这个句型：It is no good/no use doing sth. 做某事是没有用的。
注意：其中的no good可替换为： some/any good, some/any use, no fun, hard work, a pleasue, a waste of time等等，构成It is no fun doing sth. “做某事很痛苦”; It is hard work doing sth. “做某事不轻松”; It is a pleasure doing sth. “做某事有乐趣”; 等等。
It’s no use crying over spilt milk.
后悔没有用。
It’s simply a waste of time and money seeing that movie.
