The next generation networks will be an all IPv6 based network and composed of
diverse wired and wireless radio access technologies. The signals received by mobile
terminals may come from different networks. How to select the best network suitable
to current traffic is the key issue of guaranteeing the service of quality in
heterogeneous networks. The traditional single-hop access method used in 3G/2.5G
cellular network will inevitably cause the base station as a communication bottleneck.
MANET utilizes the dynamic multi-hop routing method. Mobile nodes in ad hoc
network are also as routers, which increase the power consuming of mobile nodes.
