本文运用批评性语篇分析、合作原则和目的原则，对萨达姆在
审判过程中的法庭应答语进行研究。作者从词汇分类、人称代词和情
态等方面对其应答形式进行了分析，进而指出萨达姆是如何运用语言
策略来实现其政治目的的。
此项研究把批评性语篇分析和法律语言学结合起来，拓展了相
关研究范围；分析了法庭应答语中的语言策略及其作用，旨在提高人
们的批评性语言意识。希望此项研究能够对中国的法律工作者具有一
定的参考价值。此外，本研究对英语教学具有一定的借鉴意义。作者
建议在英语专业教学中介绍法律英语和法律语言学的相关知识。

Synopsis
The present study, which adopts Critical Discourse Analysis, the
Cooperative Principle and the Principle of Goal Analysis as its analytic
approaches, analyzes Saddam Hussein’s courtroom responses in his trial
(from October 19, 2005 to December 31, 2006). The author analyzes the
forms of Saddam Hussein’s courtroom responses from the perspective of
lexical classification, personal pronouns and modality, and points out how
Saddam Hussein uses linguistic strategies to reach his political goals.
In this study, the author combines Critical Discourse Analysis with
forensic linguistics, which broadens the relevant studies. She analyzes various
linguistic strategies and their roles in Saddam’s courtroom responses, which
aims at improving people’s critical language awareness. It is hoped that this
study will provide some reference to the Chinese legal personnel. This thesis
may be used for reference in English teaching. It is suggested that the related
knowledge of law English and forensic linguistics should be introduced to the
English-major students.
