Battery
The purpose of the battery is provide sufficient electrical energy to crank the starter and operate the ignition system, computer, solenoids, lights, and other ponents.
Batteries are made by putting together a number of cells. In its simplest form, a battery sell consists of ponents: a positive plate, a negative plate, and a electrolyte, an acidic solution.
Alternator
Today’s vehicles use an alternator to charge the battery and operated the electrical circuits. The alternator is much more efficient than a generator. Alternators are much smaller, lighter in weight, and produce more current then generator.
The alternator is made of a stator, rotor and slip ring and brush assembly. Many modern alternators have the regulator built into the housings as plete unit.
