So the Chinese businessman gives the precious painting that he adores to the European businessman who actually doesn’t want it and feels very embarrassed and awkward about accepting the gift.

But in China, the host may feel honor-bound to give the guests what they like as a gift. This might be another reason why the host gives the precious painting to the European businessman, who has no idea about the importance of personal relationship in business in China.
