【内容提要】通宝货币是中国货币史上行用时间最长、制度最复杂
完备的一种铜币体系,在中国经济史上占有重要,对中国历史文化产生过深巨的影响。传统上对通宝币制的研究侧重在钱币学角度,运用经济史学的方法来考察则起步于本世纪初叶,它经历了民国和当代两度浪潮。值此中国泉学百年集成、学术世纪换千之际,系统整理通宝币制的学术条件已渐趋成熟,本文介绍了作者论述通宝币制创立发展和衰变史的学术构想。

我国是世界最早的文明古国之一,使用货币至少已有4000多年的历史。在历经上古先秦实物货币、贝币和青铜铸币的递嬗后,以秦王朝统一货币为标志,奠定了方孔圆形的铜钱形制。自秦迄隋,半两币制和五铢币制递相代谢,各领风骚。至唐王朝初年,在社会政治、经济和文化多重历史因素孕育下,终于形成了独步千载的通宝币制。
