Abstract
Along with the large-scale domestic construction of 3G network and the introduction of the
international LTE(Long Term Evolution) and WiMAX(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave
Access), the mobile communication system is moving toward 4G era and the mobile phone as a
web entertainment terminal. The cell phone antenna as an important part of mobile terminal
restricts the performance of wireless transmission. Based on it, this study focuses on developing
the LTE antenna applicable to 4G communication.
The thesis introduces the basics of antenna design as well as two main types of built-in
antenna: Planar Inverted F antenna and Planar Monopole Antenna, analyzes the features on each
type and then sums up on antenna miniaturization, multi-bands and broadband technology at
home and abroad.
Two kinds of built-in antenna are designed for applying to 4G communication, covering over
LTE (LTE700/2300/2500)and five WWAN bands (GSM850/900/1800/1900/UMTS).The
frequency bandwidth is divided into low frequency part (698MHz ~960MHz) and high-frequency
part (1710MHz ~ 2700MHz) to achieve a seamless broadband communication. The testing on
samples proves the effectiveness of the design and concludes the related parameters on the
antenna performance. At the end, a summary on this study is made for orienting the follow-up
studies.
