情态动词must, can, could, should, ought to, may, might等可以用在句中表示猜测。这时情态动词没有时态的区分,只有语气强弱之别。这几个情态动词都可以用于肯定句中,must的把握性最大意为“一定、肯定”;might语气最弱;表示疑问时常用can, could, might;表示否定时用can’t, couldn’t, may not, might not等,表示否定时can’t的语气最强。
