过去进行时表示过去某一时辰或某一段时间正在进行或发生的动作,其构造为:

二、when与

while

在指引从句时的差别
用when指引的状语从句表示时间,说明一个动作发生时,另一个动作正在进行,也可表示正在进行某一动作时,另一动作发生了。如:

用while指引的从句一般用过去进行时,表示正在进行某个动作时,发生了另一个动作,这时主句用一般过去时。如:

三、过去进行时与一般过去时的差别
过去进行时重申某一动作是在过去某时正在进行,一般用到的动词是表示详细行动,动作可
连续的,同时用到的时间状语表示的范围要小且详细。而一般过去时对谓语动词没有什么限
制,用到的时间状语范围不受限制,一般过去时重视表示在过去做过,基本上是一个结束了
的动作。表过去状态,抽象,不表详细动作行为的动词不用过去进行时,但能够用一般过去
时。如:
