摘要

汤亭亭(马克辛·洪·金斯顿)无疑是二十世纪末华裔美国文学的领军人物。
二十世纪七十年代末美国文学界认定她为第一位亚裔美国文学作家。她发表于
1976 年的作品《女勇士:一个生活在“鬼魂”中间女孩的回忆》被誉为是华裔
文学历史上的一块里程碑。它将华裔文学引入了美国主流文学的行列,极大地改
变了华裔美国文学的地位。近年来,对华裔美国文学特别是汤亭亭的研究很热门,
很多国内外学者从不同的角度对她的作品进行分析并撰写文章。
很多作家及文学评论家关注华裔男女性别之间的关系。由于对于事物理解的
方式不同再加上缺乏沟通,华裔男女之间、男女作家之间都存在着矛盾。一些华
裔男作家对某些华裔女作家作品中的“女性化”男性形象颇为不满,认为这是“阉
割”了华裔的男性形象;而一些女作家也职责在男性作家的作品中女性地位低下,
属于被压迫者。作为“被批判”的华裔女作家之一,汤亭亭一直致力于解决华裔
男女之间的矛盾以及实现华裔群体内部的和谐。她在作品中了刻画了很多“性格
模糊”的人物来强调二元性别结构的不稳定性,倡导性别的多样性。借助于相关
的后现代女性主义理论,通过对汤亭亭两部作品《女勇士》和《金山勇士》中的
性别模糊性进行研究,本文尝试提出通过消解美国华裔文学中男女性别的二元对
立,提倡“性别和谐多样”来改善华裔男女(作家)之间矛盾关系的可能性;本
文还将指出汤亭亭在构建华裔男女(作家)和谐关系方面所作出的努力。

ABSTRACT

Maxine Hong Kingston is undoubtedly the leading figure of Chinese American
writers in the late 20th century. She is accepted in the canon of American Literature in
the late 1970s as the first Asian American writer. Her work The Woman Warrior:
Memoirs of a Girlhood among Ghosts, which was published in 1976, is considered as
a milestone of the history of Chinese American literature. It brought Chinese
American literature into the mainstream writing of American literature and has greatly
changed the status of Chinese American literature. In recent years, the study of
Chinese American literature, especially Maxine Hong Kingston, is popular and many
scholars at home and aboard write papers about her works from different perspectives.
Many writers and literary critics focus on the discussion of the relationship
between Chinese American men and women. Because of different perspectives and
lack munication, there exist some conflicts between Chinese American male
(writers) and female (writers). Some Chinese American male writers are unsatisfied
with the “womanized” male images in some Chinese American female writers’ works,
and believe that Chinese men are “castrated”,
