Abstract
: TiAl / stainless steel composite joints was prepared with pure Ni foil / Cu46 Zr46 Al8 foil as the interlayer by
transient liquid phase diffusion bonding. Then, the microstructure, fracture morphology, characterization of
compositions, shear properties and microhardness of joint were all investigated by using scanning electron microscope,
energy spectrometer, universal testing machine and microhardness tester, respectively. The influence of different bonding
temperatures on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the joint was also studied. The results show that the
prepared TiAl / stainless steel joints are compact, free of porosity and welding defects; the shear strength of the joint
increases first and then decreases with the rising of the bonding temperature, reaching 159.46 MPa at 1 100 ℃ ; shear
fracture occurs at the interface on the side of TiAl alloy, presenting brittle fracture characteristics.
