A cause-effect essay is a piece of expository writing showing or explaining the cause and/or effect of something. When we write a cause-effect paper, we are actually making a causal analysis.

Two questions should be answered in a causal analysis:
What is the cause of something that has happened?
What effect will follow if something has happened?
Why?
What if?

There are two basic ways anizing paragraphs developed by cause and effect.

A cause paper begins with an introduction which briefly describes the effect, and then the entire body of the paper analyses the causes.

An effect paper reverse the procedure of the cause paper. It begins with an introduction describing the cause, and the rest of the paper discusses the effects.
Although fear of math is not a purely female phenomenon, girls tend to drop out of math sooner than boys. Why the differences in performance? One reason is the amount of math learned and used at play. Another may be the difference in male-female maturation. If girls do better than boys at all elementary school tasks, then they pute better for no other reason than that arithmetic is part of the elementary curriculum. Example of a cause paper:
Read the given paragraph and identify the causes and effects that lead to the poor performance on tests.
