Hokkaido is an island at Japan's northern extremity, surrounded by sea in all directions. It is an extensive land, accounting for 22% of Japan's total land area. Low humidity makes the summers pleasant, while in winter you can enjoy winter sports. The island is gaining popularity as a tourist destination throughout the four seasons. A region with an abundance of natural beauty.
First stop:SAPPORO(札幌)

in western Hokkaido is divided up in a grid pattern, and is the largest city on the island.
Odori is a natural park located in the city center, also a favorite resting place of people. A large number of stone carving(石雕), fountain(喷泉), lilac(紫丁香), ocean Ash(洋槐树)… more than 70 kinds of flowers. About km in the park is planted very charming. Every winter the famous Sapporo(札幌) Snow Festival will be held here. In summer the park is also open courtyard-style(庭院式) beer café(啤酒茶座) for visitors to summer holidays. Odori Park for the year also provide a venue for holding various petitions.

A Festival for the Dead is held once a year in Japan. This festival is a cheerful occasion, for on this day, the dead are said to return to their homes and they are ed by the living. As they are expected to be hungry after their long journey, food is laid out for them. Specially-made lanterns are hung outside each house to help the dead to find their way. All night long, people dance and sing. In the early morning, the food that had been laid out for the dead is thrown into a river or into the sea as it is considered unlucky for anyone living to eat it. In towns that are near the sea, the tiny lanterns which had been hung in the streets the night before, are placed into the water when the festival is over.
