Floodwater control and gleyed soil improvement have been the key tasks for agricultural development for long-time in this area. In this paper, the causes of waterlogging formation and soil gleyization are analysed by discussing the geological and topographical condition as well as the effects of reclamation and cultivation; and prehensive strategy for regulating waterlogging and soil gleyization is set forth. Based on an analysis of the data collected, the paper concludes that it is very difficult to prevent the development of waterlogging and soil gleyization under the present economic condition in Jianghan plain.
