The Chinese national flag is known all over the world, but its story is not very well kown. In 1949, from 14th July to 15th August, petition was held to find a new flag for China. People were invited to send their ideas to the newspapers. Many people took part . More than 3,000 ideas were received. These ideas were looked at many times by a group of important people. In the end, only thirty-eight were chosen.
